Actors biography:

Jay Penrake has been acting professionally since he was 7 years-old. Part of a passionate filmmaking family, Jay works with his writer and director dad and his two filmmaker sisters at Break into Three to bring great stories to the screen.

Jay is half Japanese and half English, and speaks both languages. Versatile in both his acting style and ambiguous ethnic appearance, he’s played roles ranging from a monk to a neo-n*zi, from sci-fi to brutal realism.

Jay previously practiced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Shōrinji Kempo, but later switched to Iaidō, the Japanese martial art focused on the use of the katana. Taught by his 8th dan 83 year old grandfather in Japan, he is set to take his 1st dan test towards the end of the year.

Jay’s hobbies include portrait drawing, cooking, confectionary, game/movie prop making, sashiko embroidery, photography, graphic design and shodō (Japanese calligraphy).

On set, his acting style has been compared to having the energy of a young Tom Cruise, the moodiness of Tim Roth and the range of Adrien Brody.
