Actors biography:
Caden is an actor from Aotearoa New Zealand currently based in the UK.
In his hometown of Auckland he first worked in youth theatre ensembles, devising experimental works for the Young and Hungry and Next Big Thing festivals, including immersive high school party Like There’s No Tomorrow and CAR: a performance that took place inside a moving car. Over ten years he amassed a body of work in local theatre and television, including Lord of the Flies for Auckland Theatre Company, oddball pyromaniac Sparky across six seasons of crime-comedy-drama Westside, and as heartthrob Pedro Donaldson in international hit webseries Nothing Much to Do.
After moving to Edinburgh in 2023, Caden co-founded Half Trick Theatre, specialising in irreverent reinterpretations of untouchable classics, and quickly began to rack up acclaim and notoriety in equal measure. For Half Trick he’s played Mephistopheles in The Faustus Project, Augustus Gloop in Waiting for Wonka, and the Phantom of Truth in their sold-out Edinburgh Horror Festival run of The King in Yellow. Other UK theatre includes The Fastest Clock in the Universe and Suddenly, Last Summer with EGTG, Macbeth with Gaslamp Theatre, and a few dozen scratch nights. His performances have been described as “show-stealing”; “a joy to watch” and “basically impossible not to burst out laughing at.”
Additionally, he’s a director, writer, dramaturg, fight choreographer, and can memorise the order of a shuffled deck of cards in 2 minutes. He also is a professional Dungeon Master and game designer, and writes murder mystery games and other RPG modules with The Forger’s Hand. He has a particular love for horror, comedy, Shakespeare, immersive performance, site-specific work, and scenes where he gets to eat something for real.
