Actors biography:

John is a Scottish actor from the borders, based in Cambridgeshire who has a compelling presence on stage or screen. His love of somewhat dark-and-twisted drama is matched by a charming twinkle that gives him a true Jekyll & Hyde edge.

He’s adept at playing out totally dysfunctional relationships such as incestuous siblings in Fool for Love and Claudius in Hamlet. John’s love of music and fascination with real-life events led him to write and perform a one-man show based around the Altamont festival which played at the Edinburgh Fringe and beyond on tour. His five-star performance in The Colours of Kenny Roachresonated with many with its central portrayal of an alcoholic artist’s journey to sobriety.

John grew up obsessed with true-crime and murder books. Harbouring no homicidal tendencies himself, he’s determined to play a detective on screen one day soon. Meanwhile, he’ll always try and work out whodunnit before the big reveal, he just can’t help himself.

John is a big sports fan and follows two footie teams, Berwick Rangers and Arsenal. He still travels up to the borders to see his beloved almost-Scottish side play, with the three other supporters. You’ll find him at many a live music gig, including the odd punk festival. Outside of acting he has brought his special brand of Scotsman to events that range from DJ-Ing for rugby and football to leading a conga with Richard Branson in a pool in Las Vegas.

His favourite films are: Mad Max 2 and Edward Scissorhands but he has been known to cry at a good Rom Com (there’s a huge softie behind the gruff Scotsman but don’t tell anyone!)
